“There is someone here who wants to talk to you.”
“Shocking,” stated Ellen with a smirk. “I’d be surprised if there wasn’t.”
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
“You’re singing again,” said Ellen. “She gets like this when she gets nervous,” Ellen said as she looked at the person sitting at the head of the table.
It’s in my blood and it’s all around
Life is Highway
I wanna ride it all night long
“Ellen, let it go,” replied Ruth as she fought to control her outbursts. “Some understanding is needed on your part. You agreed this was for the best.” She turned to the left. “I am working on controlling it.”
Ellen grunted. “I am only here because you needed someone to come with you.”
“And I thank you for that.” Ruth said as she sat back uncomfortably in her chair.
“Ladies.”
“Continue ,” said Ruth, turning to Madam Seer, the clairvoyant she had hired.
Madam Seer glanced at Ellen and then continued.
“These interruptions do not make a good seance,” stated Madame Seer with some firmness. “We will need some quiet. If you can’t help singing please do it quietly. Your voice cannot be louder than theirs. I need to focus.”
Hopeless hallelujah
On this side of Heaven’s gate
“Sorry,” said Ruth without looking at her sister.
Madame Seer fought to control her energies. After a couple of minutes of focus she began. “It is quiet,” started the seer. “The spirits are about. I hear a voice calling to me.”
The two women looked at each other with large eyes and then focused on the seer.
“Once you were in a seedy bar.”
Quietly Ruth sang:
And I still hear the echoes (the echoes)
“You were dancing joyfully in this place you wouldn’t normally go to. There was someone there. Someone tall, handsome, strong, bright blue eyes.”
Ruth gulped as Ellen looked quizzically over at her.
Out of place, all the time
In a world that wasn’t mine
The seer smiled. “Yes, that song was playing. The thoughts were running around in your brain. You were there to have fun because your friends took you there. My contact wants to know why you wouldn’t kiss him. You liked him very much. You went out for a while after that night. Why wouldn’t you kiss him that night?”
Ruth turned white and sang.
Classy girls don’t kiss in bars like this.
With that she rose and quickly closed the door behind her.
“What was it I said?” inquired the seer.
“It was a bad experience and now that he is dead he wants an answer?” replied Ellen as she rose from her chair. “Even in death he won’t give up.”
“If it was that bad then why did she come here today?”
“Sometimes the answers we are looking for are not the answers we get,” Ellen replied as she closed the door behind her.
