Prompt by: Prompts of Resilience: Unlikely Bedfellow
Prompt: Write about a character with an unlikely bedfellow. Make sure to give your character a very specific reason for choosing this unlikely partner. See if you can make the reader laugh, but don’t forget that good comedy is also serious. Prompt words: glow, cowlick, microphone, dust, “darling”, emerald green, fluffy.

“Mrs. Winston? I am Stanley ….”
“Yes. I have been waiting for you,” cooed 60 year old Harriet Winston, as she pulled him through the door into a strong embrace.
“You have been?” asked Stanley as he pulled his cowlick out of the way, the images poking through the emerald green peignoir capturing his attention.
“Cmon darling,” Harriet whispered as she dragged Stanley through the door of the fluffy bedroom.
Stanley awoke to the ringing of the doorbell hours later, dust in his eyes .
“Oh. Gee. Maybe I have the wrong house,” said the guy at the door when Stanley opened it. “I was expecting a Mrs. Winston.”
"Just a minute."
Mrs Winston came to the door in her housecoat. “I am Mrs Winston. How can I help you?”
”Yesterday you made a phone call seeking my services.”
“I did?” she answered, her eyes widening. “What’s your name?”
“Stanley Jefferson.”
She looked at the first Stanley. “Who are you?”
“Last night, and I quote, ‘ the greatest gift to womanhood you had ever experienced’, but today I am Stanley Jones. Here’s your microphone. It’s all fixed. No charge,” he said as he whistled his way down the sidewalk.
