John heard the running feet approaching from behind. As he turned the force of the running Irish Setter hit him in the chest knocking him down. When he came to, the setter was licking his face.
“Get off me,” John called out.
“Hey mister,” called a voice out of the darkness. “Are you all right? This dog saved your life.”
John could hear the sounds of traffic in the distance. “Huh? What?”
“He sensed you were about to be hit by a speeding car so he tackled you before it could happen.”
“Thank you," John murmured in the dog's ear.
