“Are you new here?” inquired Lucius.
“Just fresh this morning,” replied Peter.
“Welcome. I have been around here for 2000 years. Ghosting has changed since my day, although as a ghost I suppose this is still my day.” Lucius laughed a little.”
“Are there any rules I need to know?” inquired Peter.
“There are some. Don’t let them see you unless it is necessary. Moaning and groaning and whispering thoughts are okay if you want to be discovered.”
“Being discovered is a big thing?”
Lucius looked at Peter through the mist. “It’s up to you. It attracts too much attention for some ghosts and others thrive on it.”
“I don’t have any chains to rattle,” said Peter.
“That’s old school. Now we just open and close doors, move objects and drop things.”
“That’s good to know.”
“Then there’s that door over there,” Lucius said. “You don’t want to open it. It’s not safe. Not under any circumstances.”
“The path to hell?”
Lucius laughed. “That’s a good one. It’s the road to limbo. You travel for years and end up nowhere. At least here it is comfortable and we are left alone.
“Good to know.”
“Do you know about the other big no no?”
“We don’t say boo anymore.”
“Yup. Any other concerns?”
“Do I have to do Halloween?”
Well, they better do Halloween. What's the ghosting world coming to? Ha. Great story, Bill.
This is a fun read. Peter must do Halloween. It's the biggest night of the year for ghosts.😂
