The bottle bobbed and weaved as it avoided heavy wake, swimming whales, and playful dolphins. It rode gigantic waves and languished for milenia in still waters waiting for its next push. Hurricanes moved it along quickly, only for prevailing winds to push it back out to sea when calmer days prevailed.

Eventually the current gently guided the old bottle to the shoreline where it felt the push and pull of the tide moving it forward and returning it to deeper waters..

With one last tidal push the bottle rammed up against the rocks and sank, its message lost to posterity.

“The swirling gas inside a bobbing bottle is a curious touch,” thought Meghan as she reached over the side of the boat to pluck it out of the water.

Immediately the gas swirled in different colours before settling into an eerie sunset scene. Meghan glanced past the bow of her boat.

She returned her gaze to the bottle. It reflected difficult scenes where there were objects flying, dirt was heaved skyward, and fires of immense destruction were taking place. Meghan set the bottle down in the bottom of the boat and began pulling on the oars with all her might. Strangely though, her eyes caught a scene in the bottle that zoomed from the moon down to her.

It scared Meghan immensely, so much so that she tossed the bottle back into the ocean.

“And that,” intoned the Salem magistrate at her trial, “is why you, Meghan, are a witch.”
