A Story Stack: Separation Method
Step 1: Using a prompt, write a 6-word story.
Pen in hand, his destiny called.
Step 2: Using the prompt write a different 25-word story.
As he gathered the information, Joe realized the story was coming together quickly. A satisfactory smile quickly crossed his lips. βThey said it was hard.β
Step 3: Using the prompt write a different 50-word story.
Moonlight reflected through the window creating an ambiance of accuracy. The old fashioned lights gave off a glow while he did his best to determine what the document had to say. Jack had stumbled time and again. He realized that despite being a world renowned expert, he still needed help.
Step 4: Using the prompt write a different 100-word story.
Whirl! Unsure of what he had found Sam spent the next half hour pondering the possibilities before accepting that he had stumbled across the opening that expanded his mind. But understanding was only part of the equation. As Sam applied the opening, he felt more satisfied than he had felt in quite a while. A calmness settled over Sam as he typed with a ferocity that belied the human condition. This was liquid gold! The nectar of the gods could only hope to compare to his vision. An evil smile crept onto his face as he typed βBlack Crypt Stories.β
Step 5: Using the prompt write a different 150-word story.
Ignoring digital input Kevin went rogue, piecing together each element as it was found. The frail page brimmed with energy. The library, with classic books, emphasized the need for greatness. His own position within the world had pushed his mind past the limitations of others. Now his discoveries and repeated successes had led him to this point, a discovery of importance. On page after page he outlined his theories adding details as necessary. Day after day he went back over his theories, finding places that needed further research. Finally the day had come when his work was completed. Exhausted, he fell into a deep sleep. When he woke he felt the elation of finishing a task.
Then, with a thud, he realized that somehow, he needed to find a way out of this confinement so that the value of his work would be recognized. He began searching for the door.
